Barnes, Miller earn conference awards
Milligan, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2009) --- Two members of the Milligan College men's basketball team earned All-Conference honors for this season.
Senior center Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) made the All-Conference Second Team and the All-Academic Team. This is the fourth consecutive year that Barnes has received conference recognition.
“Jeff was the backbone of our team both in scoring and in rebounding,” said Head Coach Tony Wallingford. “He had a great career here.”
Freshman guard Darrell Miller (Nashville, Tenn.) was named to the All-Freshman Team.
“I'm really proud of Darrell and the effort that he gave this year,” said Wallingford. “He was a huge contributor for us both in scoring and rebounds. It was unfortunate that he had two different injuries that slowed him down, but he battled back. He had a great freshman year and a good foundation for him to continue to have an outstanding career.”
The Buffs compete in the first round of the AAC Tournament in Bristol, Va. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8:45 p.m. against Tennessee Wesleyan College
