Lady Buffs sign Chirica

Milligan College, Tenn. (Jan. 24, 2009) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team recently signed Bettina Chirica, a standout player from University High School, to play for the Lady Buffs this fall.

“I'm excited to have Bettina as part of our team,” said Head Coach Lisa Buckley . “She will make an impact as a freshman. She brings a lot to the table for us because she can play in numerous positions and that's a great asset.”

During her high school career, Bettina scored 98 goals. She was two-time Offensive Player of the Year and All-District and All-Region during her time at University High. She was named Best Female Athlete for University High in 2007 and is a member of the Olympic Developmental Program Regional Team for Tennessee.

Bettina was born in Romania town of Hunedoara. She intends on majoring in HPXS at Milligan.

“I think she can develop well at Milligan,” said Buckley. “She's always been one of the best players on her team, so playing with better players will be good for someone of her caliber.”
