Abel is first mountain biking signee

Milligan College, Tenn. (April 17, 2009) --- Jared Abel from Waxhaw, N.C., is the first signee to Milligan College's brand new Mountain Biking program, beginning its inaugural season in the fall.

Abel, a student at Sun Valley High School, has been racing for nearly two years. In that short time he has become sponsored by Bolt Brothers Cycles out of Charlotte, N.C. While riding for Bolt Brothers, he has competed in both road and mountain biking. 

In the category of mountain biking, Abel recently won the overall points championship in the Charlotte Winter Short-Track Series with four first-place finishes and two second-place finishes.

"Jared is both an excellent rider and student, and I fully expect him to perform well both in the classroom and on the bike,” said Head Coach Brad Hill . “Milligan is lucky to have a young man of such character be the first mountain bike signee."

Jared Abel is the son of Tammy and Charlie Abel.
