Buffs Tennis gains experience versus King
Milligan College, Tenn. (March 31, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's tennis team fought a hard battle to King College Tuesday, falling to the Tornado 7-2. King swept the doubles matches and the first of the singles matches.
However, junior Bryan Upshaw (Kingsport, Tenn.) played an epic match today against King's Eirikur Magnusson. This was by far the most thrilling match of the day. Upshaw lost the first set 4-6, but came back to win the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6(5). He went on to win the third set super tiebreaker (12-10).
Freshman Andy Stewart (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) also played a great match and notched a win for the Buffaloes 6-4, 5-7, (10-4).
“My guys are playing better every time we hit the courts,” said Head Coach Ron Worrell . “They are a young group…five freshmen in the starting lineup. They are working hard to improve their games. There are better days ahead for this squad.”
Milligan will host Covenant College on Friday, April 3, at 3 p.m.
