Buffs, Lady Buffs fall to Union College

Barbourville, Ky. (April 16, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's and women's tennis teams played Union College on Thursday, April 16. The Lady Buffs fell to the Lady Bulldogs 7-2 and the Buffs fell to the Bulldogs 9-0.

The Lady Buffs were giving two points at the No.3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to the Lady Bulldogs only having five players. The Lady Buffs were unable to pick up more points. Senior Sarah Hopson (Grenville, Tenn.) and freshman Albany Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) were defeated at No. 1 doubles by Camila Cunha and Juliana Negosek 8-1. Freshman Caitlin Conley (Bristol, Tenn.) was defeated at the No. 1 singles by Camila Cunha 6-2, 6-2.

The Buffs were unable to get points against the Bulldogs. Freshmen Ricky Jones (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Wesley Rice (Knoxville, Tenn.) were defeated at the No. 1 doubles by Rafael Millon and Renardy Guelfi 8-0. Jones also suffered a lost at No. 1 singles against Anthony Hill 6-2, 6-2.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs are back in action on Monday, April 20, at home against AAC match Bluefield College. The matches are to begin at 3 p.m.
