Buffs fall to Bluefield; look to postseason

Milligan College, Tenn. (April 28, 2009) --- Monday evening the Milligan College men's baseball team (37-17, 17-10) ended the regular season with a 5-3 loss to Bluefield College.

Junior Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) was attributed with the loss after scattering seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Junior Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.) led the Buffs at the plate with two hits.

Seniors Spencer Street (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Brian Busby (Lexington, S.C.) , sophomore Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) , and juniors Eric Oxley (Ardmore, Tenn.) and Randy Rabon (Rock Hill, S.C.) each contributed a hit.

“We're disappointed we didn't finish the job,” said Head Coach Nathan Meade. “We didn't capitalize in crucial situations. It's one game at a time at this point.”

The Buffs look now to the conference tournament, which begins Saturday, May 2, in Kingsport, Tenn. The Buffs will face Montreat College at 7:30 p.m. When the Buffs faced Montreat at the end of March, the three-game series resulted in two wins and a loss.
