Buffs fall to Union

Barbourville, Ky. (April 17, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's baseball team (30-14, 13-7) fell to Union College 7-5 in an away game Friday.

Although the Buffs produced solid offense, they also produced four errors, which were difficult to overcome.

Junior Collin Duffie (Calhoun, Ga.) started on the mound for the Buffs and pitched five innings. He allowed two earned runs and five unearned runs, four walks, four hits, and struck out three.

Freshman Josh Hullett (Knoxville, Tenn.) pitched nine consecutive outs in the final three innings.

Junior Eric Oxley (Ardmore, Tenn.) led the Buffs at the plate, batting 2-4 with a double and a solo home run in the eighth inning. Senior Justin Motte (Johnson City, Tenn.) batted 2-3.

“It was good to be back swinging the bats,” said Head Coach Nathan Meade . “But you can't come out making four errors against a good team like Union. Our pitching gave us a chance to win, and we didn't capitalize. But we will come back tomorrow and try to get two wins.”

The Buffs face Union College Saturday, April 18, in Barbourville, Ky. The double-header begins at 2 p.m.
