Buffs' basketball signs DB's duo

Milligan College, Tenn. (May 13, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team signed Dobyns Bennett High School's duo of Justin Sylvester and Dustin McConnell Tuesday afternoon.

Sylvester, a 5'10” point-guard, was a 3-time All-Conference selection for the Indians and was named to the Arby's Classic All-Tournament team. As a senior, Sylvester averaged 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Sylvester, the son of Anthony and Jackie Sylvester of Kingsport, Tenn., plans to study to become a physical therapist.

McConnell, a 6'3” shooting guard, averaged 12 points, six rebounds and four assists per game for the Indians. During his senior season, McConnell was 40 percent from beyond the arc. McConnell was an All-Conference Honorable Mention this past season.

McConnell resides in Kingsport, Tenn., with Justin and Erin Penly and plans to major in business administration.

“We are really excited about signing both Justin and Dustin,” commented Head Coach Bill Robinson. “They come from a great basketball program with a winning tradition. They are both excellent students and high character young men. They will be a great addition to the Milligan campus as well to the basketball program.”
