Wood, Payne claim victories at Furman

Greenville, S.C. (April 11, 2009) --- Milligan's track team ran well at the Furman Invitational on Saturday. The Buffs walked away with two individual victories.

Junior Aaron Wood (Aurora, Colo.) won the men's 400-meter race in 50.32. Freshman Tanner Payne (Georgetown, Tenn.) won the men's discus throw in 136'11.50”. Payne's throw beat ETSU's attempt to sweep the event. Freshman Jake Peters (Elizabethton, Tenn.) ran a personal best and a time good enough for him to qualify for his first 100-meter finals. Sophomore James Butcher (Marietta, Ga.), sophomore Nathan Bordelon (Kissimmee, Fla.) and freshman Stephen Feryus (Fallston, Md.) , also ran personal bests in the 1500-meter run.

For the Lady Buffs, senior Nicole Moore (Boise, Id.) placed third in the women's 1500-meter run. Fellow senior Jacklyn Talbert (Mt. Carmel, Tenn.) placed fifth in the women's 800-meter.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs track team runs next at the AAC Conference meet in Cullowhee, N.C. on April 16-17.
