Unicoi County's Gardner signs with Milligan

Milligan College, Tenn. (May 15, 2009) --- The Milligan College women’s basketball team signed Unicoi County’s Ali Gardner Tuesday, announced Head Coach Rich Aubrey.

Gardner led the Lady Devils in scoring with 12.5 points per game, rebounding with 8.9 points per game, deflections with 3.8 per game and steals with 2.4 per game. She was also selected as the team’s MVP and awarded the “Lady Devil” award by the school.

During her senior season, Gardner was selected to the All-Regional Tournament team, All-Watauga Conference team and the All-Northeast Tennessee team.

We are pleased to add Ali to our program,” commented Aubrey. “She is very athletic and versatile and we expect her to be part of our post rotation.

Gardner is the daughter or Randall and Donna Gardner and is currently undecided on what she plans to study at Milligan.

The Lady Buffs graduated six seniors off of this year’s squad that went 20-12 overall and 13-5 in league play. The Lady Buffs were crowned AAC regular season co-champions and will return leading scorer and All-American honorable-mention selection Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.).
