County's Gardner signs with Milligan
Milligan College, Tenn. (May 15, 2009) --- The Milligan
College women’s basketball team signed Unicoi County’s Ali
Gardner Tuesday, announced Head Coach Rich Aubrey.
Gardner led the Lady Devils in scoring with 12.5 points per
game, rebounding with 8.9 points per game, deflections with
3.8 per game and steals with 2.4 per game. She was also
selected as the team’s MVP and awarded the “Lady Devil”
award by the school.
During her senior season, Gardner was selected to the
All-Regional Tournament team, All-Watauga Conference team
and the All-Northeast Tennessee team.
“We
are pleased to add Ali to our program,”
commented Aubrey. “She
is very athletic and versatile and we expect her to be part
of our post rotation.”
Gardner is the daughter or Randall and Donna Gardner and is
currently undecided on what she plans to study at Milligan.
The Lady Buffs graduated six seniors off of this year’s
squad that went 20-12 overall and 13-5 in league play. The
Lady Buffs were crowned AAC regular season co-champions and
will return leading scorer and All-American
honorable-mention selection Heather Mandela (Fairfax,
Va.).
