Winfrey inks with Lady Buffs tennis
Milligan College, Tenn. (May 15, 2009) --- The Milligan
College women’s tennis team signed Landmark Christian’s
Halie Winfrey to join the Buffs for the 2009-10 season.
While at Landmark Christian High School, Winfrey played
three years of tennis for Head Coach Mark Hossler. Each
season, Winfrey played as the no. 1 singles player. During
her junior and senior seasons, she was selected to the
All-Regions squad and as her team’s Most Valuable Player.
Winfrey served as the team captain this past season.
"Halie
is a great addition to our lineup,” commented Head Coach Ron Worrell. “She
is very athletic and brings a competitive game and attitude
to the team. The added bonus is that she's left-handed and
that's a big plus on the courts for a lot of reasons.”
Halie is the daughter of Olin and Tracy Winfrey of
Fayetteville, Ga., and she plans to study pre-medicine at
Milligan in the fall.
