Terry Caldwell Head Coach, Swimming Milligan College announced that Dr. Terry Caldwell will take the helm of the swimming program beginning June 1. Caldwell fills the position vacated by Coach Ron Goehring who helped launch the Milligan swim program three years ago. Goehring, a long time swim coach in the Tri-Cities, plans to retire from coaching after a very successful stint at Milligan. “Coach Caldwell comes to Milligan with a long-standing reputation within the area and in the sport,” commented Mark Fox, vice president for student development. “He is a very knowledgeable individual and will continue to build on the success that Milligan swimming has had under the leadership of Coach Goehring.” Previously, Caldwell served as the director of personnel and support staff for the Bristol, Va., city school systems. During his 33-year tenure with the school system, Caldwell served in various roles, including aquatics director, swim coach and golf coach for Virginia High School. As a swim coach, Caldwell has earned several coaching milestones in the state of Virginia which are recognized by the Virginia High School League in boys and girls swimming. Caldwell has also received numerous Coach of the Year awards, in addition to receiving commendations from the Virginia High School League for his leadership in swimming and diving.  Caldwell holds both doctoral and bachelor’s degrees from East Tennessee State University and a master’s degree from Radford University in Virginia. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead Milligan’s swim program,” said Caldwell. “Coach Goehring has worked diligently to establish a winning tradition in a short period of time, and it is my pleasure to continue building on that success.” “Top 20” in the 2010 NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships.
