An All-American from the 2008 cross country season, blazed the trail with an eighth place finish and a time of 25:11 to lead the way for the Buffs. Only a sophomore, Ellis looks to repeat his All-American finish from last year as he finished 15th at the NAIA cross country National Championships. Austin is the son of Lindsay and Wendy Ellis of Charlottesville, Va., and is majoring in Bible while at Milligan.
Milligan signs French national champ
Milligan College, Tenn. (July 6, 2009) --- Milligan College Head Coach Chris Layne announced this week that French High School Triple Jump National Champion, France Makabu of Lycee Jacques Feyder High School, has signed her letter of intent to attend Milligan College and compete for the Lady Buffs.
As a junior, Makabu placed seventh at the French National Championships before winning the title as a senior. Makabu boasts a triple jump best of 40-1/2 (12.20 meters), and also competes in the 800 meters.
“We're committed to building a track and field program that will mirror our success in cross country and the distance events,” commented Layne. “France will bring a tremendous amount of accomplishment and ability to our women's team.”
Milligan College, Tenn. (May 26, 2009) --- Milligan College Head Coach Chris Layne announced the addition of six more signees for the 2009-2010 cross country and track and field seasons.
Heading up the list is Osceola High School senior Yolanda Migoyo (Kissimmee, Fla.). Migoyo owns personal bests of 59.03 for 400 meters and 2:27.91 for 800 meters. She won the 400 meter title at this year's FHSAA District 4 meet and has been a member of back to back state qualifying 4 x 800 meter relay teams for Coach Mike Clemens.
Joining Migoyo is Manchester High School (Midlothian, Va.) senior Elise King. King holds a shot put best of 36-2.5 and recently finished second at the Dominion District Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Dominion Christian (Marietta, Ga.) senior Suzanne Johnson will join the Lady Buffs sprint crew. Johnson owns personal bests of 12.8 for 100 meters and 27.7 for 200 meters.
