Elizabeton's Jefferson picks Milligan

Milligan College, Tenn. (Aug. 11, 2010) --- Elizabethton High School’s Jasmine Jefferson has decided to take her game to the next level as she will join the Lady Buffs basketball squad for the upcoming season. Milligan Head Coach Rich Aubrey made the announcement during press event on Wednesday.

I’m really glad that Jasmine will be joining our program,” Aubrey said. “She has been a very important player in a very successful program, and it will be good for her to bring her talents and experiences to Milligan.”

Jefferson is a 5-foot-8 forward. She averaged 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game during her senior year. Jefferson was named All-Conference and All-District during her senior season, which saw the Lady Cyclones record a 27-2 overall record. She was also a starter during her junior year when Elizabethton went 30-8 and made a state tournament appearance.

Milligan athletics add Kelly sisters

Milligan College, Tenn. (July 12, 2010) --- Twin sisters Kayla and Ahmee Kelly have decided to continue their athletic careers at Milligan College. The talented duo from Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences will become members of the Milligan tennis program. Kayla also will play basketball for the Lady Buffs.

The sisters are two-time defending TSSAA champions in doubles. Their sister, Albany, is currently a junior on the Lady Buff tennis squad.

“I want to build a tennis culture at Milligan and I believe Kayla and Ahmee will have an immediate impact on our women’s tennis program,” Milligan tennis Head Coach Ryan Reynolds said.

In addition to her success on the tennis court, Kayla averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game. She was named to the TSWA All State Basketball team and helped her team reach the state semi-finals.

"We are very excited about adding Kayla to our team,” Lady Buff basketball Head Coach Rich Aubrey said. “She is a winner! She has experienced success in basketball and tennis, and we love the winning attitude she will bring to our program."
