CCHS's Heath joins Lady Buffs

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2010)---Summer Heath, a standout golfer for Claiborne County High School (New Tazewell, Tenn.) has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College and play golf for the Lady Buffs.  Milligan Head Coach Tony Wallingford made the announcement.  

As a senior, Heath was a first team All-Region selection and a TSSAA Class AA State Tournament qualifier; where she went on to secure a spot in the Top 25. During her junior season, Heath helped lead Claiborne County to District and Regional Championships and a team trip to the TSSAA Class AA Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs finished 7th in the 2008 state tournament.  

Aside from her high school success, Heath was also the junior points leader in the Woodlake G.C. program.

Heath, an outstanding student, plans to major in pre-med at Milligan. She is the daughter of Mark Heath and Carolyn Minton and the Granddaughter of Jay and Wilma Heath of New Tazewell, Tenn.

Milligan signs Dobyns-Bennett golfer

Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 3, 2009) --- Aubrey Baker, a standout golfer at Dobyns-Bennett High School, signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College and to play golf for the Lady Buffs announced head golf coach Tony Wallingford on Tuesday.

Baker, the 2008 Big Nine medalist, is a two time All-Conference performer for Gant Patteson and the Dobyns-Bennett Indians. She shot 78 in this year’s district tournament at the Cattails at Meadowview golf course, advancing her to the regional tournament for the second consecutive year. In the 2009 regional tournament, Baker tied for the final spot to qualify for the TSSAA state tournament in Murfreesboro, where she lost on the third playoff hole. Baker is also an active participant on the TGA Junior Tour and has won three TGA tournaments and finished third or higher three other times. Baker’s scoring average is an 80.

“I am very excited to have Aubrey join our women’s golf program at Milligan. She is one of our area’s top golfers and will make a positive impact on our team.  She has improved very steadily over the past three years and has loads of potential,” Wallingford said. “In addition to being a good athlete with solid golf skills, Aubrey is a quality person with high character and a great fit for Milligan. I am confident she will have an outstanding career here.”
