Milligan soccer names team awards

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2010) --- The Milligan College women’s soccer program handed out their team awards named their team awards for the previous season as three players captured honors. The awards were voted on by the players, and presented by Head Coach Lisa Buckley.  

The most valuable player award went to defender Erin Brewer (Brownsburg, Ind.). The sophomore had an outstanding season as she was tied for the most assists within the Lady Buffs squad recorded her first career goal. Erin is the daughter of Craig and Janee Brewer, and is majoring in biology while at Milligan. 

The player’s choice for most improved was Jacklyn Orange (Shelbyville, Ky.). Orange recorded two goals during her inaugural season. Jacklyn is the daughter of Terry and Renae Orange, and is studying international business during her time as a Lady Buff. 

Rachael Martin (Blountville, Tenn.) earned the servant leadership award for the season. Martin, a sophomore, had four goals and three assists on the year. Rachael is the daughter of Carol and Freddy Martin, and is a pre-med major in her time at Milligan.  

The Lady Buffs squad will only graduate two from the 2009 team that finished runner-up in the AAC and made a semi-final appearance in the AAC Tournament. On the year, the Lady Buffs were 7-4-6 and 4-1-2 in the league.

Kellogg signs with Milligan

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2010) --- The Milligan College women’s soccer program recently signed Hannah Kellogg to the 2010-2011 signing class. Lady Buffs’ Head Coach Lisa Buckley made the announcement.

A standout at South Oldham High School in Louisville, Ky., Kellogg played both forward and midfield for the Lady Dragons. During the past two seasons, Kellogg had 21 goals and 18 assists, and was a two-time All-Region and All-Region Tournament selection. She has also played club soccer with the Javanon Soccer Club in Louisville.

“I am excited to have Hannah as a part of our team next year, she will be able to play a major role both in the midfield and up front for us next year,” Buckley said. “Hannah is a great fit for our program and I have no doubt she will flourish here at Milligan next year, she is a great technical ability and is a proven goal scorer.”

Hannah is the daughter of Chris and Brittany Kellogg, also of Louisville, Ky., and plans to major in nursing while at Milligan.
