Smoky Mountain's Sarah Newbold has signed to continue her soccer career with Milligan College near Johnson City, Tenn.

Newbold helped the Lady Mustangs to a share of the Western Athletic Conference championship and the second round of the state 2-A playoffs this past season.

“It's a really small school,” Newbold said in discussing her decision. “The people seem really nice, and it's close to a big city. I really didn't consider any other schools. I had Milligan on my mind.”

Signing to play college soccer fulfills a longtime dream for Newbold.

“Ever since I was little when I thought about going to college I planned to play soccer,” she said.

Lady Toppers' Kind inks with Lady Buffs

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2009) --- The Milligan College women's soccer Head Coach Lisa Buckley added another player to her roster for next season late last week. Science Hill stand out Kelsey Kind signed her letter of intent to become a Lady Buff.

During her days as a Lady Topper, Kind was selected to the All-District, All-Conference, and All-Region teams all four years. She was named District MVP during her sophomore season.

"Kelsey is going to be a great addition to the midfield," commented Buckley.  "She is a freshman that can come straight in to our program and play. She is a very mature player on the field."

Kelsey is the daughter of Rick and Lisa Kind of Johnson City.
