Milligan T & F adds Nave to staff

Milligan College, Tenn. (June 7, 2010) --- The Milligan College Track and Field program has announced the addition of Elizabethton’s Derek Nave to their coaching staff.

“Derek is passionate about coaching and I’m quite confident he has the work ethic it takes to be successful,” said Head Coach Chris Layne. “He understands the NAIA and knows what it takes to compete at the top. His success in the classroom and on the field of play was very attractive.”

Nave comes to Milligan after serving as a graduate assistant at King College in Bristol, Tenn. At King, Nave coached the throwers for the Tornado track and field program, assisted the head coach with academic advising for student-athletes, and developed and supervised strength and condition program for the throwers.

Prior to serving as a graduate assistant, Nave was a successful thrower for the Tornado program. In 2009, he was a NAIA Academic All-American and National Championship qualifier. Nave was a 2010 NCCAA All-American in the 35# weight throw and continues to hold school records in the weight throw, discus throw and hammer throw.
